Stephen Anthony “Tony” Mangan, 81, of Arma, Kansas died June 11, 2024 at his home after fighting a brave battle with cancer.
Mr. Mangan was born March 30, 1943 the son of Stephen Patrick and Dorothy Rose Jones Mangan in Independence, Kansas. Tony worked as a welder for McNally’s, Mackie Clemons, P & M Coal Company and as a painter at Honeywell. Tony graduated from St. Mary’s Colgan High School in 1962. He married Linda Sue Hartwig and she preceded him in death November 26, 1998. He later married Mary Hamblin and she preceded in death August 27, 2021. He served in the United States Army with an honorable discharge. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma and was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include two sons, Mike (Debbie) Mangan of Westminster, Maryland and Kelly (Christie) Mangan of Harrisonville, Missouri, a sister, Mary (Phil) Beitzinger of Pittsburg, four granddaughters, Amanda York, Kaeleigh Mangan, Kyrklind Mangan, and Kohlette Mangan. Also surviving grandchildren, Charles Cox, Eric Cox, Tiffany Cox, and great grandchildren, Aurora Nixon, Joseph Nixon, and Micah Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jim Mangan, and a brother, Tim Mangan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M. Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma, Kansas with Father Daniel Vacca as the Celebrant. Rosary will be said at 9:30 A.M. Saturday June 22 prior to the mass. Mr. Mangan will be cremated following the mass. Tony’s cremains will be buried at a later date at the Highland Park Cemetery at Pittsburg, Kansas.
