Richard Carl Totman, 73, of Mulberry, Kansas died at 4:18 A.M. Monday January 16, 2023 at this home.

Richard was born June 29, 1949 at Arcadia, Kansas the son of Ernest Carl and Dorothy Pearl McCormack Totman. He was a retired coal miner and a maintenance worker for Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg for 23 years. He had been a resident of Mulberry for the past 51 years. He was raised in Arcadia and attended Arcadia Grade School. He later graduated from Arma High School. He married Rita Williams on July 26, 1971 at Pittsburg, Kansas. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Army where he served in the 25th Infantry Special Forces where he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Survivors include his wife, Rita of the home, a son, Richard (Cathy) Totman of Mulberry, a grandson, Brian White, three great grandchildren, Dylan, Haylie, and Kenzie White, and a brother, Leonard Totman. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Nellie Sigars and Shirley Gamble.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the National Cemetery at Ft. Scott, Kansas with the Rev. James Sukraw officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas. Ft. Riley Burial Detail will conduct graveside flag folding services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
