Mary Ann Boyd, 91, of Arma, Kansas died at 5 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Via Christi Village at Pittsburg, Kansas.
Mrs. Boyd was born December 18, 1931 at Melrose Park, Illinois the daughter of William “Bill” and Florence Martino Talarico. Mary Ann was a homemaker and registered nurse who was a lifelong resident of Arma. She was a nurse for Dr. Raymond Lance in Arma from 1954 to 1977. Until retirement she held various nursing positions. Mary Ann was raised in Arma and graduated from Arma High School with the Class of 1949. Mary Ann later attended the Mt. Carmel School of Nursing and received her nursing degree. Mary Ann married Marvin D. Boyd on September 20, 1952 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma. Mr. Boyd survives at Via Christi Village. Mary Ann was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, the Red Hats, and active in the Arma community. Survivors include her husband, Pete of the home, son, Mark Boyd of Topeka, two daughters, Marcia (Brent) Wosel of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Dr. Merri Beth (Christopher) Kudrna of Lombard, Illinois, three sisters, Billie Peak of Wichita, Karen Pryer of Overland Park and Patty Whitmore of Olathe, four grandchildren, Lucas and Cassidy Boyd, Rebeca and Layne Nash, Adrienne and Christopher Strohmeyer, and Brandon and Stacy Wosel, and three great grandchildren, Kamren, Charles, and Ava. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Beverly Jenkins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M. Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma, Kansas with Father Josh Evans and Father Michael Klag as celebrants. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. Rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday March 28, 2023 at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma where the family will receive friends until 7:30 P.M. following the rosary. The family suggests memorials to the Northeast USD #246 High School for Nursing Scholarships. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
