Kay Lynne Pile, 85, beloved educator, mentor, and community member passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in Frontenac, KS, surrounded by the ones she loved the most. A dignified exit of this earthly world of such a sweet and beautiful soul, heaven’s gain is our loss. She will be deeply missed as she was deeply loved.
Kay was born in Pittsburg, KS, on November 8, 1939 to Joseph R. Massine and Blanche Cinotto Massine. She graduated from Frontenac High School with the Class of 1957. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Pittsburg State University in 1960, followed by a Masters in Education from Kansas State University. She then began her teaching career in Joplin, Missouri, followed by stops in Pittsburg and Overland Park, KS, before returning to her alma mater in Frontenac, KS, at Frank Layden Elementary. Mrs. Pile dedicated her life to education, touching the lives of countless students over her 43 year career. Known for her passion for children and her ability to inspire curiosity, she taught Kindergarten with warmth, patience, and love. Beyond teaching, Kay’s faith was the core of her life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society & Rosary Group, Precious Blood Prayer Group, and Perpetual Adoration. She also held membership with the Frontenac Senior Citizens Board, Frontenac Reunion Committee, Retired Teachers of USD #249, and Tri Sigma Sorority. In addition, she volunteered for many years as an instructor for Sacred Heart Parish School of Religion, Pink Lady for Mount Carmel Medical Center Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, and Harry Hynes Hospice.
Kay is survived by her son, Jared Pile and his wife, Dr. Jill Saia Pile, and their three children, Hayden Joseph Pile, Vincenzo Joseph Pile, and Giana Kay Pile. Additional survivors include Tish Cinotto-Burleson (Ken), David Cinotto, Heather White (Damon) and many Cinotto cousins.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM, Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, KS, with Father PJ Voegeli as the celebrant. Pallbearers will be Ray Pile, Gary Cinotto, David Cinotto, C.L. Farabi, Caleb Farabi, Fred Fields, Bob Burns, Randy Flora, Calvin Merando, and Bruce Bedene. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, Monday, June 16, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
