FRANCIS ALLEN BUCHE May 23, 1952 - March 31, 2024

Date of Funeral

April 4, 2024

Francis Allen Buche, 71, of Pittsburg, Kansas peacefully left this world on March 31, 2024 at 5:15 AM in Pittsburg, Kansas. He fought a long, hard journey and overcame so many obstacles to continue to be with his family.

Francie was born May 23, 1952 to Francis and Virginia Buche in Pittsburg, Kansas. Francie was a retired agent for State Farm Insurance. He was a lifelong resident of the Frontenac-Pittsburg area. He married Margaret “Peggy” Svetz in 1975. They later divorced. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, Frontenac Rotary, Quail Unlimited, AA, and Sigma Chi fraternity.   He attended elementary school in Mulberry, Kansas.  He was a member of the graduating class of 1970 at St. Mary’s Colgan.  He attended, and graduated from Pittsburg State University with a business degree in 1974.

Francie was a man who loved all.  He never had a bad day, and truly wanted the best for everyone.  He was a loving man, and would always have a hug for anyone who would take one.  He was a devoted father, a loving son, an amazing grandfather (Papa Toot Toot), a loving brother, a passionate coach, an avid hunter, a strong Catholic, and the best friend you could have.  He cherished his children, and his grandchildren were the light of his heart.  He had a zest for life and his smile is something no one will ever forget.  His bird dogs were his most passionate hobby, and he loved any outdoor activity.  Some of his hobbies included: fishing with the grandkids, tinkering in his shop, coaching softball, horseback riding, training dogs, attending family events and activities.  He enjoyed helping others, especially anonymously.  He was a man you could count on, believing in himself and others.  Coach Buche was a motivator for young athletes, and had a front row seat at all of the games that his daughters coached.  Francie made every day a good day, and he tried to make sure everyone felt his love and compassion.  There will never be another man of his enthusiasm, positivity, and love.

Survivors include: two daughters Cassie (Jay) Rhuems of Pittsburg, and Abby (Caleb) Farabi of Pittsburg; one son, Aaron Buche of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren: Reece, Carson, Cruz, Ryann, Cal, and Camryn; two sisters Linda (Joe) Broyles of Arma, and Gena (Paul) Hofer of Playa Vista, California; and two brothers David (Diane) Buche of Derby, and Michael Buche of Mulberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis William and Virginia Buche.

The family would like to send a sincere, heartfelt thank you to the staff of Pittsburg Care and Rehab for their unconditional love and care shown to Francie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 4, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, with Father Josh Evans and Father Andrew Labenz as Celebrants.  The rosary will be said at 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 3 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; with the family receiving friends at its conclusion.  Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Frontenac, KS.  The family will host a luncheon following the burial at St. Mary’s Fieldhouse.

Memorials can made to the “Francis Buche Scholarship Fund” which will provide academic support to athletes from Frontenac and Colgan. Donations may be sent or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.

I have no doubts that Francis Allen (we called him)….Francie, many others called him, will be sincerely missed by his family. I am happy to say that I had good memories of my experiences with him…especially those connected to family get togethers and our hunting trips with his Dad…my Godfather. He also, at times, introduced me to some of his special dogs…actually they were all special to him. I was happy to see his connections with his daughters and to both of you I offer my most heart-felt condolences and to his son as well…I could see you had great connections with your Dad.
I am happy also to remember and see so many witness the zest for life that this good man…this cousin of mine, had. He lived his life in a way that many would be jealous of…and admire at the same time. Unfortunately, although I can remember the happy parts of this existence on this earth….I was sad about the pain and suffering he had to deal with in order to leave it. I am certain his afterlife rewards will be great, but we will miss him.

Francis was so good to my mother, Sue Coury. He helped her find handy men to fix her home and was a good friend to her. She enjoyed bringing him food that she fixed. God rest his soul. He was a good man.
