Clarence “Ed” Gallup, 88, of Pittsburg, Kansas died at 10:36 P.M. Saturday, May 25, 2025 at Mercy Hospital at Pittsburg, Kansas.
Mr. Gallup was born December 15, 1936 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Clarence and Loraine Campbell Gallup. Ed retired from the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #12 as a mechanic on passenger elevators and escalators. He was raised in Kansas City, Kansas in the Strawberry Hill-Armourdale area. He attended Ward High School and graduated in the Class of 1955. He married Harriet Gray. She preceded him in death in 1977. He later married Genevieve Tobler on October 11, 1980 in Pittsburg, Kansas. She survives at the home. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, Kansas and the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #12. Other survivors include his children, Dian and Denise Gallup of Arma, Douglas (Teresa) Elrod of Pittsburg, Diana (Rick) Wilson of Pittsburg, Theresa (Ron) Smith of Oswego, and Sheryl McGrath of Overland Park, a brother, James Gallup of Chandler, Arizona, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Edward E. Gallup and Michael V. Gallup, and a brother, Virgil Gallup.
Rosary will be said at 2 P.M. Monday June 2, 2025 followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, Kansas with Father Jon Tolberd and Father Jeremy Huser as celebrants. Burial of the cremains will follow at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Scammon, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to Children’s Mercy Hospital Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri.
