VEDA MARIE MAXWELL October 12, 1942 - August 21, 2023

Veda Marie Maxwell, 80, of Frontenac, Kansas died at her home at 6:48 A.M. Monday, August 21, 2023.

Veda was born October 12, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to fabulous parents John Earl and Mary (DalSanto) Vilet. She was raised in Chicago, graduated from Fenger High School and attended Radiology School at South Chicago Hospital.  Veda worked many years in the medical field and retired as an Executive Assistant from Freightliner Corp. She married Stuart (Butch) Maxwell Jr. on May 1, 1985, and moved to the Arma/Franklin area in May 1993. Stuart preceded her in death on July 22, 2011. Veda loved animals and helped in the rebuilding of Franklin after the tornado in 2003. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac and was an active member of the Altar Society, Adoration and Harvest House. Survivors include a daughter, Nadra Maxwell-Bierlein of Indianapolis, Indiana, two grandchildren, Peyton and Jake Kocur of Arma, and a special friend, Joe Morie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Butch, and a son, Lance Kocur.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M. Friday, August 25, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, Kansas with Father Josh Evans and Father Robert McElwee as Co-Celebrants. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery at Pittsburg, Kansas. Rosary will be said at 6 P.M. Thursday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma where the family will receive friends following the rosary until 7 P.M. The family suggests memorials to the Crawford County Humane Society or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
