Susan Diane (Sisney) Cherry returned to God after passing away in her home in Olathe, KS early on Monday, February 3rd, 2025 from ALS. Her children Phaedra Jernigan and Logan Cherry were with her when she passed.
Susan was born October 18, 1956 in Pittsburg, KS. Susan was preceded in death by her father Dale Douglas Sisney, mother Helen Elizabeth Sisney, and brother Mike Sisney. Susan is survived by her children Phaedra Jernigan (Will) of Olathe, KS and Logan Cherry (Brooke) of Shawnee, KS; grandchildren Glenn Jernigan and Denver Cherry; and siblings Sherry, Steve, Greg (the late Teresa), and Jeff (Sherry).
Susan graduated from Northeast High School in 1974. She worked in insurance for her 50-year career. She retired in 2024 after her diagnosis.
She loved taking advantage of sales and discounts when shopping, and loved to watch movies and game shows. She also watched the Chiefs every week, but she’d turn it off if the game was close. Susan loved Christmas. She decorated with cardinals and snowmen amongst her many different types of ornaments. Most of all, Susan enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas with Pastor Roy Widmar officiating. Burial will be at Sheffield Cemetery near Arcadia, Kansas. Susan’s wake will be from 6:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Bedene Funeral Home. Susan enjoyed her time with her dog Max before he passed away in January 2021, then later her dog Ridge. Susan requested that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Pawsitive Tails, an animal shelter in the KC area that helped connect her with her dog Ridge. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
