Mary Jo McKinney, 78, of Pittsburg, Kansas passed away peacefully Monday, October 14, 2024 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Mary Jo was born January 13, 1946 at Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Joseph and Mildred McKinstry Wozniak. She was raised in Chicago and Arcadia and graduated from Arcadia High School. She later attended Brown Mackie College Court Reporting School in Salina, Kansas. She lived in the Pittsburg area most of her life. She was a retired medical transcriptionist. She married Alvin Buffington in Arcadia. He preceded her in death 2015. She later married David McKinney in Missouri. He preceded her in death September 2023. Her favorite things to do was baking, cooking, enjoyed singing, and music of all kinds. She was a member of the Open Door Church in Arcadia. Survivors include a daughter, Sami Jo Buffington of San Francisco, California, two sons, Jeff Alan Buffington of Arcadia, Kansas and Darin Ray Buffington of Stanton, Michigan, three grandchildren, Brett, Brooke, and Brock Buffington, and three great grandchildren, Cameron, Belle, and Steven. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mildred Wozniak, and her brother, Tom Mawson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas with Pastor Don Talent officiating. Burial will be at the Sheffield Cemetery near Arcadia, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the Bedene Chapel prior to funeral services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
