Marvin D. (Pete) Boyd, 95, of Arma, Kansas died at 4:50 P.M. Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Mr. Boyd was born July 8, 1930 in Pittsburg, Kansas the son of Oscar and Rozena Kline Boyd. Pete was a retired barber and was employed by the State of Kansas in the Department of Revenue, retiring after 20 years of service. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in the Class of 1948. After graduation he was employed by Edmiston’s Department Store, Bud’s Jewelry, and Hagman’s Candy Store. In 1955 he attended Tulsa School of Barbering. He was then employed at the Professional Barber Shop in Pittsburg. He then became owner of his shop, The Red Arrow Barber Shop, working for 20 years in the barber profession. He served in the Army Reserves.  He later was a part time employee for the Bedene Funeral Home as an assistant funeral director for over 40 years and the Arma Locker.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and followed KU Basketball faithfully. He married Mary Ann Talarico on September 20, 1952 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma. Mrs. Boyd preceded him in death March 25, 2023. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma, the Knights of Columbus, the Lon Helm American Legion Post #182, past council member of St. Joseph, past member of Eagles, and past Arma City Council Member. Survivors include his children, Marcia (Brent) Wosel of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Mark Boyd of Topeka, Kansas and Merri Beth (Christopher) Kudrna of Lombard, Illinois, grandchildren, Adrienne (Wosel) (Christopher) Strohmeyer, Brandon (Stacy) Wosel, Rebeca (Boyd) (Layne) Nash, and Lucas (Cassidy) Boyd, great grandchildren, Kamren and Charles Wosel, Ava Nash, and Henry Boyd, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Ann, two sisters, Nellie (Boyd) Mohler and Helen (Boyd) Baird, four brothers, Arthur, Harold, Norman, and Paul Boyd, and an infant sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Arma. Rosary will be at 6 P.M. Monday November 3, 2025 at the Bedene Funeral at Arma followed by family receiving friends till 7 P.M. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the St. Mary’s Colgan High School. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
