Loretta Jean Smith, 83, of rural Girard, Kansas died at 9:03 A.M. Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Prairie Mission Retirement Village at St. Paul, Kansas.

Mrs. Smith was born October 24, 1939 at Cleveland, Arkansas the daughter of Clyde and Lucille Anderson Branham. Loretta was a homemaker and factory worker and had lived in Crawford County the past 38 years. She was raised by the grandparents in Arkansas and attended schools in Arkansas. She later received her GED in Ft. Scott, Kansas. She loved to fish, paint, and crochet. She married Malcolm Smith on April 25, 1983 at Miami, Oklahoma. Mr. Smith survives at the home. Additional survivors include a daughter, Barbara Cochran of Carrollton, Georgia, a son, Charles McGraw of Mulberry, Kansas, a brother, Joe Mohler of Belgium, five grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Linda Carroll West, and a son, Ronald Eugene McGraw.

Funeral services will be at 10 A.M. Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas with Pastor Randy Beeman officiating. Burial will be at the Farlington Cemetery at Farlington, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday at the Bedene Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.

    Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the death of our beloved Loretta. It has been such a blessing , even though we were so far apart , to get to know my sister these past ten years. I will truly miss her and will be keeping those she left behind in my prayers.
