Kaylynn Smardo, 86, of Pittsburg, Kansas died at 5:01 P.M. Friday, September 12, 2025 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law John C. and Marilyn Smardo in Franklin, Kansas.
Mrs. Smardo was born May 6, 1939 at Pittsburg, Kansas the daughter of John Wilson and Catherine Ann Chulk Motsinger. Kaylynn was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Pittsburg. She was raised in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School in the Class of 1957. She loved gardening and caring for her daughter Cindy. She married Frank Joseph Smardo on December 26, 1958 in Miami, Oklahoma. Mr. Smardo preceded her in death May 20, 1924. She was a member of the Crossroad Baptist Church at Girard, Kansas. Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Smardo of the home, a son, John C. (Marilyn) Smardo of Franklin, Kansas, a sister, Mary Jo Chapman of Overland Park, Kansas, two grandchildren, Rebecca (Becky) David Vineyard of Weir and Brian (Ashley) Smardo of Arma, and five great grandchildren, Kimberlynn and Cody Vineyard, and Hailey, Riley, and Kylee Smardo. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be at 1 P.M. Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at the Frontenac City Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Buckamneer officiating. Friends may call 10 to 12:30 P.M. Tuesday at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
