James (Jimmy) Arthur Powell, 74, of Arma, Kansas, passed away at 7:30am on May 1st, 2024 at Girard Medical Center in Girard, Kansas.

He was born on March 1st, 1950 to James L. Powell and Louise F. (Courtois) Powell in Pittsburg, Kansas. Jimmy attended and graduated from Northeast High School, in Arma, Kansas in 1968.  He worked in the printing business for over 45 years before retiring from Kansas Business Forms in 2015.

Jimmy and Carla McCartney-Ange were united in marriage on June 24th, 2003, in Eureka Springs. Jimmy enjoyed spending his time with his family, reading, fishing, and gardening.  He is preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother Michael Powell.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Carla (McCartney) Powell; daughter Morgan Scales and her husband, Zac of St. Croix, VI; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Galindo and her husband Matt of Girard, Kansas; stepson, Phillip Ange, his wife Jennifer, and their children Alyssa Threlfall, Memphis Fox, and Spencer Ange of Arma, Kansas; his sister Barbara Powell of Arma, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Powell has been cremated according to his wishes.  A visitation will be held at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas on Saturday, May 11th, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life at the Arma American Legion to follow. Donations to the Shriners Hospital may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home at 517 E. Washington P.O. Box 621 Arma, Kansas 66712.
