Ernest “Ernie” Chaussard, 87, of Arma, Kansas died at 10:40 P.M. Monday, May 8, 2023 at his home.

Mr. Chaussard was born August 20, 1935 at Franklin, Kansas the son of Ernest and Grace Gartner Chaussard. Ernie was retired from Dickey Clay and Pitt Plastics and been a resident of Arma most of his life. He was raised in Franklin and graduated from Arma High School in the Class of 1954. He turned down a college scholarship to play football to start a family. He loved his family, loved to garden, and loved fishing and hunting. He married Bessie Wyland on November 17, 1955 at Croweburg, Kansas. He was a member of the Arma United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Bessie of the home, son, David Chaussard (Audrey Dawson), a daughter, Cynthia (Dr. David) Black, grandchildren, Brian (Whitney) Black, Dr. Chris (Allison) Black, Jeff (Jessica) Black, Cassie Ramoska (Ricky Sans), Molly Ramoska, Great Grandchildren, Brilee, Brekkon and Elijah Black, and Chloe Maddock, brother-in-law, Philip Harris of Frontenac, brother-in-laws, Olin Wyland, deceased Teddy Joe Wyland, Jim Wyland, sister-in-laws, Etta Smith, Donna Dewey, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Evelyn June Harris.

Graveside services will be at 10 A.M. Friday, May 12. 2023 at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Cole officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. Thursday May 11, 2023 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to Solace House of the Ozarks, PO Box 4467, Joplin, Missouri 64803. Donation may be sent to Solace House of the Ozarks or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.

    Sorry to hear of your loss. Thoughts and prayers from Fulshear, Texas. Ernie was the winningest pitcher in Arma Royal History. Really enjoyed playing softball with him and as Babe Ruth Coach. Made every game an experience.
