Bessie Rose Chaussard, 89, of Arma, Kansas passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Bessie was born February 10, 1936 at Mulberry, KS to Ted and Viola Ellis Wyland. She graduated from Arma high school in 1954. She married Ernest Chaussard on November 17, 1955. She started a family and later attended Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg graduating with her teaching degree. She began teaching at Northeast School in the junior high teaching science. She later taught business and typing at Northeast High School then finished her career at the junior high as the librarian.
Bessie enjoyed outdoor activities with her family. Fishing trips were the usual summer activity. She was the matriarch for her family, always caring for others. She loved to sew and quilt in her later years.
Survivors include her son David Chaussard (Audrey Dawson), her daughter Cynthia Black (Dr. David Black), grandchildren Brian Black (Whitney), Dr. Christopher Black (Allison), Jeffrey Black (Jessica), Cassie Ramoska (Ricky Sans), Molly Ramoska (Alex), Great grandchildren Brilee, Brekkan ,Elijah, Claire, and Griffin Black, Chloe Maddox and Willa Ramoska-Sans, Sisters Donna Dewey (Larry), Etta Smith (Terry) and brother Olin Wyland (Tammy), several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Chaussard, brothers Teddy Joe, and Jim Wyland and her parents.
Graveside Services will be September 27, 2025 at 10:00 A.M., at the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Pittsburg, Kansas with Reverend Steve Cole officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, September 26, 2025 at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to Northeast Foundation, or Freeman Foundation palliative care in Bessie’s name. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
