Betty June Lyden, 93, of Pittsburg, Kansas died at 3:50 P.M. Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Mercy Hospital at Pittsburg, Kansas.
Mrs. Lyden was born May 28, 1932 at Mulberry, Kansas the daughter of Atlee Ray and Gladys Pearl Fish Stewart. Betty was a homemaker and also the head cook for Senior Services for Congregate Meals from 1980 to 1993. She had been a resident of Pittsburg for 60 years. She was raised in Mulberry and graduated from Mulberry High School in the Class of 1950. Her hobbies were gardening, embroidering, and cooking with her grandchildren. She married Charlie Lyden on October 14, 1950 at Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Mr. Lyden preceded her in death on December 1, 2018. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne K. (Mitch) Hines of Pittsburg, Kanas, a son, Charlie “Norman” Lyden of Little Rock, Arkansas, three sisters, Kathleen Henegar of Liberal, Missouri, Marilyn Henegar of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Linda Case of Frontenac, Kansas, three grandchildren, Leslie Hines, Michelle Hines, and Julian Lyden, and four great grandchildren, Maizey Williams, Khya Williams, Remi Dutton, and Jace Dutton, and two sister-in-laws, Glenda and Thelma Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charlie, a daughter-in-law, Alison Lyden, five sisters, infant Karen Stewart, Wilma Lyden, Verna Stewart, Vera Morris, and Gloria Edwards, and six brothers, Delmar, Raymond, Bob, Charles, Gary, and Harold Stewart.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas with Pastor Ben Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday September 2, 2025 at the Bedene Chapel. The family suggests memorials to the Mulberry Funeral Dinner Fund. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E.
