Henry L. “Hank” Christman, 80 years old, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, October 10, 2025. The day of his 60th Wedding Anniversary. Hank was born on July 14, 1945, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Louie and Eulah Mae (Hunsacker) Christman. They preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Sartore Christman of the home. Son, Paul (Amy Normand) Christman of Pittsburg, KS, and two grandsons Jacob (Natalie Coomes) Christman of Bangor, ME and Jesse Christman, Pittsburg, KS. A sister-in-law Jan Sartore of Findlay, OH, a nephew, Lee (Krista) Sartore of Franklin, TN, and niece Connie (Kim) So of Grandview, MO, and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Ed Sartore.
Hank attended the Crockell School near Foxtown until 8th grade and graduated from High School in Arma, KS in 1963. He went on to attend Vocational Training at Kansas State College in Pittsburg, KS, where he graduated. He worked in Wellington, KS after graduation, but soon returned home to work at McNally’s Manufacturing for 36 years as a tool and die maker. Hank served in the National Guard for 9-years earning the Rank of E6 and was a mortar squad leader.
Hank and Sandy were married at the Arma United Methodist Church on October 10, 1965. They celebrated 60 years of marriage. Hank was a long-time member of Lighthouse Tabernacle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and target shooting. He enjoyed sharing his shooting range with others so they could also enjoy the sport. Hank was a master Hunter Safety Instructor, a master woodworker, furniture and knife maker. He enjoyed sharing these gifts with his friends. Hank absolutely loved sharing his outdoor passion with his grandsons teaching them to fish and shoot, they were his pride and joy.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg, KS, at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Daryl Gaddy will be the officiating minister and Janelle Bunney will be the vocalist. Friends may call 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the Bedene Funeral Home to sign registrar book or leave memorials. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, KS 66712.
